The single Monmouth has been designed to provide a Playcentre for children of varied ages, as well as a strong base for adding more climbing features for older active children. The prime differences between the Single Arundel and the Monmouth are the inclusion of a sturdy and attractive wooden staircase allowing easy access for very young children and a larger 90cm (3ft) x 120cm (4ft) enclosed platform. The tower provides access to the 3m (10ft) wavy green slide, and the enclosed balustrades are perfect for creating an imaginary fort or castle. Attached to one side of the tower is an 8 rung x 4 strand commando net, on the other the tall swing arm with two adjustable height wooden swings and climbing rope. Included within the tower base is a sandpit with seats (missing in this photo).

The products have been designed to be complete, right down to swingseats, without complicated tables of modules and “optional extras” that turn out to be essential. At the same time, there are an intelligent range of complementary options available that provide extra play value and can be added either at the time of the initial build or later as your children grow.
Selected top grade pine (from forests approved and managed under the Programme for the Endorsement of Forest Certification scheme (PEFC) is used with as few man-made materials as possible. The seasoned timber is machined, planed smooth with rounded edges and finished to within 1mm tolerances. All fixing holes and nut recesses are drilled, then the timber is pressure-treated using a nontoxic chromium / cadmium / arsenic free solution approved for children’s playground equipment.
Safety is at the heart of the design specification, with substantial timber sections used for the frames (70mm x 70mm) and swing arm (70mm x 90mm), and strong railings around the platforms. Every model combines a minimum of a heavy-duty green wavy slide, substantial climbing frame and play platform, and swings (as appropriate) with wooden seats. Wooden roofs, commando net, clatterbridges, wooden tunnels and Assault Courses are fitted as described for the various models. Included are all necessary fittings (galvanized or stainless steel), fasteners, ropes, a detailed set of assembly instructions and even a drill-bit for preparing screw holes. The galvanised swing hangers have low-noise nylon bearings, and bolt through the swing arm beam. Stability is provided by both the design and utilizing Spiralok ground anchors with easy-drive fitting.
INSTALLATION & ASSEMBLY:
Before purchasing or installing your PlayCentre measure your garden. An unobstructed safety area of about 1.5m should be left for safety and access, with a clear zone of about 2.5m in front and behind the swings.
All sections come flat-packed in manageable components, but due to the awkward shape or size of some components please be willing to assist the carrier in carrying such parts onto your property. It is important that BEFORE SIGNING for your delivery please check that you receive ALL the components necessary to make up your PlayCentre, that none of the packages are damaged or open. Packages are labeled 1/9, 2/9 etc for easy checking. IF YOU ARE UNSURE please sign “damaged” or “missing” and CROSS OUT the line “Received in good condition” if there is any discrepancy. PlayCentres are large units, and though it is not impossible for one person to assemble on their own, we recommend two or more people. You may also find it easier to make up the tower components horizontally before raising them upright. You will need some tools, in particular 13mm & 17mm box or socket spanners, a cordless drill with Phillips driver, level and tape measure. Build times are set out in the back table, but are guidelines only and assume a reasonably level garden clear of rubble and trees. NOTE: Wood is a natural product, and as such is subject to the influence of the moisture content of the air and ground. Sometimes cracks or splits may appear, but this will not result in weakening of structural stability. Such cracks and splits are more common in round section timber, just another of the reasons we prefer machined rectangular-section timber.
CONFIGURATION & WARRANTY:
Most of the Playcentres allow you to arrange the components in more than one configuration. Plans are provided with the dimensions of the various components to allow you to draw up alternative designs. Some changes are easy to achieve, others may require a small amount of input from yourself. Please consult if you wish to make major changes.
