Abalone is a two-player strategy game. GIPF is a strategic game for two players based on a classic concept: in turns, players introduce one piece into play until achieving four-in-a-row. TAMSK is the second game of Project GIPF. It is played under permanent time pressure. Both players start the game with 3 hour-glasses and 32 rings. The hour-glasses are the playing pieces; the aim is to get rid of as many rings as possible. Each turn you must move one of your hour-glasses and turn it over; next you may play a ring in the newly covered space. The more spaces you visit, the more rings you will be able to play. But the more rings you play, the more difficult it will become to move your hour-glasses. Watch your hour-glasses closely; each one that runs out of time is lost! TAMSK introduces time as a substantial strategic element. If you are prepared to think fast and to play quickly without losing your cool, then you have the right attitude. Enjoy the pressure!

Timbuktu – legendary town in Mali; destination of numerous trading caravans, all laden with valuable wares.

On their way through the Sahara, the caravans travel from oasis to oasis, always in search of a save place to rest for the night. However, the peace is deceptive for thieves are lying in wait at the oasis with an eye on the valuable goods.

As caravan leader, you must be shrewd in using the tips you are given to get as many of your wares as possible to Timbuktu.

Two teams consisting of 8 turtles go head-to-head on a deserted island. Their mission: to get one of their comrades to the other side of the island as fast as possible. They will have to weave their way across the island, leapfrogging and even knocking their opponents onto their backs. But don’t worry. These unlucky ones will get back on their feet again... but they might end up changing sides!!!

TZAAR is a game about making choices. Both players have 30 pieces, divided in three types: 6 Tzaars, 9 Tzarras and 15 Totts. The 3 types of pieces form a trinity: They cannot exist without each other. The aim is either to make the opponent run out of one of the three types of pieces or to put him in a position in which he cannot capture anymore. The tricky question the players will have to ask themselves on each of their turns is: “Shall I make myself stronger or my opponent weaker?” Meaning: Will you capture an opponent’s piece and make him weaker, or will you jump on top of one of your own pieces and make yourself stronger? If you choose to jump on top of your own pieces too often, you will probably leave your opponent with too many pieces on the board. On the other hand, if you capture too often, you may end up with pieces that are not strong enough at the end of the game. What to do? Up to you to decide!

The goal is to have the fewest number of groups of tiles on the board at the end of the game.

The players take turns placing one of their five tiles on a 9x9 grid and then draw another tile to replace it. There are three tiles which each player can place on each space: a letter, a number, or the item which represents the 3x3 sector of the board the space is in.

If another player has placed a tile it may be captured by playing a legal tile in its place, only if removing the tile doesn't break a group of tiles belonging to the player into more than one groups. If players tie for the fewest number of groups at the end of the game, then the winner is the one who captured the fewest opponents' tiles.

A struggle is raging in the quiet hillside pastures! The meadows are crowded, forcing you, the shepherds, to fight for every blade of grass -- an acre here, a field there -- to feed your tiny, woolly sheep. You must continually expand your pastures to feed your flocks. But watch out! You must be ever vigilant to keep your sheep safe from the marauding, hungry wolves that roam the forests at the pastures edge!

The players each start with 5 rings on the board. Every time a ring is moved, it leaves a marker behind. Markers are white on one side and black on the other. When markers are jumped over by a ring they must be flipped, so their color is constantly changing. The players must try to form a row of 5 markers with their own color face up. If a player succeeds in doing so, he removes one of his rings as an indication that he has formed such a row. The first player to remove 3 of his rings wins the game. In other words, each row you make brings you closer to victory-but also makes you weaker, because you have one less ring to play with. Very tricky!

ZÈRTZ is a fast, dynamic game for 2 players. It is played with 5 white, 7 grey and 9 black marbles on a board that gets smaller and smaller. The aim is to capture either 3 white, 4 grey or 5 black marbles, or 2 marbles of each color. To capture you must jump with a marble over another marble. Sounds easy? Not when you know that both players play with the same marbles. And because the board that gets smaller with every move, you and your opponent are forced towards a tense situation in which any move could be the crucial one… So, be careful: if you create a trap for your opponent at the wrong moment, you may well face the consequences yourself!
