The Pathfinders are a cut above the average trooper, even though few civilians or citizens are aware of their existence. They are the troopers that other troopers respect, the highly trained elite. First termed king bugs by SICON Intelligence, this was quickly changed when the true nature of their role within Arachnid colonies was understood. Overseer bugs are a mass of carapace plates and ridges, from which hang eight legs with wickedly sharp claws. A pair of double-wings sprout from the carapace which appear barely able to keep it in the air.

The overseer bug provides a solid level of direct command over lesser bug sub-species and is capable of replacing a brain bug in the battlefield. However, it possesses none of the brain’s awesome processing capabilities and has weaker psychic powers. They form a conduit between queen, brain and warriors, increasing the responsiveness of entire bug swarms and so are often made priority targets by the Mobile Infantry.

If you are looking for a solid unit that can absorb incoming fire while maintaining solid command of your Arachnid force, with the added bonus of being able to shred anything that gets into range, the Overseer Bug is for you!

Dominating the battlefield with its huge frame, the plasma bug is the ultimate in artillery. Generating massive amounts of plasma with each blast, this Arachnid is capable of destroying ships in orbit, landing shuttles or entire squads of troopers on the bounce.

Heralding a group of bug species capable of matching the Mobile Infantry for raw firepower, Ararchnid players will find the plasma bug an essential addition to their forces. Though difficult to hide, it has enough Hits to whether many attacks and its main weapon is truly devastating, capable of putting enemy forces on the back foot long before the main Arachnid force hits them.

An insidious creature, the Control Bug is one of the smallest Arachnid sub-species yet discovered - but it is also one of the most dangerous. Leaping upon an enemy, a Control Bug uses a razor-sharp proboscis to merge with the victim's brain stem, from which it is then able to control all higher functions.

Given enough Control Bugs, you can turn much of your opponent's army into cannon fodder!

When tanker bugs were first sighted on Pluto, many Troopers questioned the wisdom of their enlisting to the Mobile Infantry. Time past and tactics were soon devised to tackle these creatures. However, the Arachnids are also constantly developing their own version of technology and gradually reports began to filter to SICON Intelligence of an even larger breed of the tanker. Nigh on unstoppable when plunging into the midst of battle, the term ‘king tanker’ was soon coined.

The tanker bug is primarily used as a line breaker in battle, smashing part any prepared defence with ease to allow swarms of warrior bugs to assault their enemies. However, it often proves something of a fire magnet because of this, attracting the attention of every heavy weapon that can be mustered. The king tanker was engineered by the Arachnids precisely to counter this. With armoured plates twice as thick as those of the original tanker and a far more powerful muscle structure, the king tanker can weather any attack short of a tac-nuke and keep fighting.

Heavy metal comes to Marauder squads!

The Bigfoot is a popular variant of the M8 Ape Marauder, utilising the heavy Hail Mary mortar, a weapon that far outclasses the Trip Hammer in terms of range and devastation.

For closer ranged firepower, the Bigfoot uses the brand new Plasmatic Cannon, the very latest from SICON R&D. With increased armour for both pilot and vital systems, the Bigfoot has the capability to dominate the battlefield.

The WASP flight packs seem bulky and unwieldy devices but they can grant an entire squad of cap troopers an unprecedented degree of battlefield mobility. Designed so the MI's normal weaponry can be used while in flight, the WASP pack is a relatively cheap upgrade that can far extend the jump distance of a squad.

Building upon the advancements of the Pathfinder neodogs, the Mk II neodog is a natural scientific progression though it is only now beginning to find its way into active Mobile Infantry units. Demand from the frontline still outstrips supply and only veteran troopers or those handlers who have managed to escape the worst effects of losing a previous caleb are granted the chance to bond with a Mk II. As well as the advanced sensory suite carried over from the pathfinder program, the most distinctive advantage of the Mk II neodog is the ranged capability granted by the integrated skull-mounted laser weapon system, adapted from the Trench Sweeper used by troopers on their Moritas.

Every good trooper knows the benefits of support from the fleet and these missiles can bring some heavy bug-killing action to any battle.

The Flamberge is a heavy ground attack missile fired from large gunships miles form the combat zone. The default warhead is the Scatter Bomb but more powerful Firestorm or Pee-Wee Atomic Munitions can be fitted instead, allowing you to rain death upon any bug hoard, no matter how hard it tries to evade the guns of your Troopers.

If the Flamberge is not enough for you, try the Sarissa Space Combat Missile. Launched form ships in orbit to deliver pin point strikes on Arachnid swarms, it is capable of defeating even the heaviest of Plasma Bug anti-aircraft fire. As well as the warhead options of the Flamberge, the Sarissa is the only support missile currently available that can carry the awesome Ajax Atomic Munition, the heaviest tactical nuclear weapon available to the Mobile Infantry.

An elite force needs an elite tool - the Neodogs used by the Pathfinders are advanced models, the experimental forerunners of the rumoured MkII Neodog. Tougher, faster and smarter than the original Mobile Infantry canines, these dogs are used to sniff out concealed bug holes and to help navigate Arachnid colonies when the Pathfinders are tasked with infiltrating occupied nests.

Dubbed as Militia by SICON, the actual role of these Skinnies in their society is largely unknown. Despite lacking the armour of the Raiders, these units show an unusual degree of discipline on the battlefield and come equipped with the same lethal Constrictor Rifles that make a mockery of even the heaviest armour.

A typical raiding force will feature large numbers of Militia, allowing them to ignore casualties as they march inexorably to their objectives.

The most commonly sighted form of Skinnie fighting unit, the Raiders use power suits similar in effect to that of the Mobile Infantry's but with very different weapons. Their constrictor rifles make a mockery of armour while their nerve beams can scythe through whole squads.

Skinnie Raiders are adept at striking at valuable targets, capturing their objectives, and then fading out of sight before a determined resistance can be mounted.

Often led by Tyrants, these Skinnies are the paid warriors of the Hegemony, the well-equipped standing army. Once unknown to the Federation, who assumed the Skinnies were no more than primitive raiders, units of Soldiers have proved to be the equal of Mobile Infantry troopers in many fields of combat and, in some ways, are superior.

Armed with the dreaded Constrictor Rifle that can crush a man in power armour, the Soldiers also have access to the much heavier Constrictor Cannon and fearsome Neural Beamer.

Blessed with a natural ability of inspirational leadership, warchiefs liken themselves to the heroes of old during the Age of Tribes. Dressed in armour similar in style to the ancient metal plates said to be worn by these heroes, he also charges into battle astride a pecadon into battle, a reptilian riding beast that once carried tribal kings. As skilled an orator as he is a military leader, the warchief is able to make great speeches of the glories of the old days, bringing huge numbers of common Skinnies into his force and moulding them into an effective fighting force. Though archaic in his approach, the warchief is capable of stunning heroic feats on the battlefield, serving to further inspire his devoted followers.

Placed under the control of a senior trooper, a TAC UAV grants a squad a longer punch and better eyes.

Circling above the battlefield, this craft is capable of reconnoitring an area and then lending support when the squad moves in.

Twin Fifty autocannon and two Scatter Bombs give the TAC UAV a punch that cannot be underestimated and its ability to stay on station for hours before retiring to the rear lines to rearm and refuel enables a force to remain under its cover for whole operations.
