Apples to Apples - a wonderful party game for between 4 and 8 players, suitable for everyone from younger kids to your grandparents!!

Components

There are two separate packs of cards in this game, Green Apples and Red Apples.

The Green Apple cards represent the starting words and are laid out one at a time.

The Red Apple cards represent the matching words and these are played against the active Green Apple card.

Game Play

Simply make 2 piles of cards, one Green Apples and the other Red Apples, then someone deals 7 Red Apple cards to each of the players.

Players take turns being the Judge, during that round they don't play a card. Once the Green Apple card is revealed and the word read out, all of the other players choose a Red Apple card with a word or phrase or person that they consider a good match to the Green Apple card and it lay face down on the table. The last player to lay a card discards it instead and it is not considered in the judging process.

The judge can be influenced by any of the other players when choosing the most appropriate card, the motive for choosing an answer might be it causes them the most amusement, it's the most appropriate, it's the most absurd, it flatters their ego! Once the winner has been chosen the player who laid that card takes the Green Apple Card.

Once the judging has been completed then control of the judge passes clockwise around the group and each player takes cards so that they have 7 again in their hand.

Depending how many you are playing with depends how many Green Apple cards you need to win.

The Hooks

It really is playable with any audience, no special facilities are required, as easy to play in an armchair as around a table.
