Are you a Werewolf ? - a neat party game for between 8 and 15 players, suitable for everyone from younger kids to your grandparents!!
Components
2 Werewolf cards, 1 Seer, 1 Moderator, and 12 Villager cards
Game Play
Get your players to sit in a room, preferably in a circle from which those who die can easily leave.
The moderator then deals one card to each player, will they be the Seer, a Villager or one of the Werewolves. Each player then looks at their card but does not reveal it to any of the rest of the group.
The game starts as night falls and the moderator asks all of the players to close their eyes. He or she then calls for the Werewolves to open their eyes, between the two of them they select a victim, someone who won't wake up in the morning. The werewolves then close their eyes.
The Seer then opens their eyes and points out one of the players, the moderator indicates with a thumbs down if that player is not a werewolf or a thumbs up if they are, the Seer then closes their eyes.
The moderator now calls for everyone to open their eyes and the victim of the werewolves learns their fate, reveals their card and leaves the circle.
It is now the players turn to discuss who the werewolves might be, to try to select them from amongst their circle of friends. A time for accusations to fly and fierce denials to be heard. At some point the moderator must call for nominations and votes and eventually the individual tarred as a werewolf is hung, that person then reveals their card and leaves the circle. Have the players guessed right or has another innocent villager been hung!
Night falls again and the cycle repeats.
The werewolves try to identify and kill the seer, the seer tries to identify the werewolves and get them hung without drawing attention to themselves. You can be sure the seer will die if the werewolves know who they are.
The werewolves win if they equal or outnumber the villagers so the villagers need to be sure to identify them using any means possible.
The Hooks
Very simple to play and can be played in many environments with groups of all ages.
Can turn into a very theatrical experience with people becoming animated as they try to find the guilty.
Conclusion
A great party game, suitable for the whole family in many environments. Great with larger groups who don't game regularly.
